Gemma AdanaIn azione uomini armati che hanno rapito il primo cittadino della città nel sud delle Filippine. Il gruppo ha prelevato Gemma Adana dalla sua abitazione ed è fuggito a bordo di motoscafi.

La polizia della città di Naga ha avviato un’operazione per salvare la donna ed i suoi familiari. Nella provincia sono attivi i ribelli del gruppo islamico Abu Sayyaf ed altri gruppi criminali.

Ecco quanto riferisce Abs-Cbn: Armed men abducted the woman mayor of Naga town in Zamboanga Sibugay on Monday night, police said.

Initial reports from the Zamboana Sibugay police said Mayor Gemma Adana was taken by force by 3 gunmen who were wearing bonnets from her residence in Barangay Taytay Manubo, Naga.

The gunmen brought Adana to a motorized pumpboat that sped off toward the high seas, police said.

Naga police have launched an operation to rescue the victim.

E ancora quanto scrive Politiko: Barely a month after being charged with graft charges, the lady mayor of a town in Zamboanga Sibugay had been abducted  by still unidentified armed men.

Based on various news and television reports,  Naga Mayor Gemma Adana was carried off ffrom her house in Barangay TaytayManubo at around 9:15 p.m on 6 April 2015.

Eyewitness reports claimed Adana’s captors were headed for Kalintana and are using a small wooden vessel called “bote-bote”.

The motive for Adana’s abduction has yet to be determined.

Military spokesperson Captain Maria Rowena Muyuela and Lim said there was an ongoing pursuitoperation against Adana’s captors.

On 9 March 2015, the  Office of the Ombudsman  filed graft charges against Adana of Naga, Zamboanga Sibugay, and four other municipal officias for fthe illegal purchase of heavy equipment from CVCK Trading in 2007.

“Adana and the BAC members committed procurement violations in the acquisition of a road roller and road grader by changing the technical specifications of the equipment without complying with the requirements of the Government Procurement Reform Act. There was also no showing that theprice of CVCK Trading was the most beneficial for the local government,” the Ombudsman said.

There is no indication that her abduction is related to her graft case.
