Nibionno, Joele Leotta massacrato di botte e ucciso a Maidstone nel Kent
Una morte orribile per un ragazzo lombardo di 19 anni assassinato in Gran Bretagna. Si era trasferito per un periodo di studio e lavoro in Gran Bretagna. “Ci rubi il lavoro”, sarebbe stata la frase pronunciata dagli assassini di Joele Leotta, nove ragazzi fra i 21 e i 25 anni. Sette, tutte di nazionalità straniera, restano in stato di arresto. Solo uno dei rilasciati, ha spiegato il portavoce della Polizia del Kent, è di nazionalità britannica. I fermati sono tutti d’origine lituana, quattro sono indagati per omicidio. Si tratta di Aleksandras Zuravliovas, 26 anni; Tomas Gelezinis, 30 anni; Saulius Tamoliunas, 23 anni e Linas Zidonis, 21 anni.
Inizialmente si era pensato a un omicidio a sfondo razziale ma poi l’ipotesi è tramontata. Un altro ragazzo italiano, Alex Galbiati, che con Joele divideva la stanza, ha subito lesioni durante l’aggressione ma è fuori pericolo. Intanto la famiglia del giovane italiano rimasto vittima dell’aggressione è giunta nel Paese ed è assistita dal personale del consolato.
La vittima, insieme all’amico Alex Galbiati, da alcuni giorni si era trasferito nell’appartamento di Maidstone e aveva iniziato a lavorare in un ristorante della zona. Nel locale sarebbe iniziata nella serata di domenica la lite che ha avuto il suo tragico epilogo con la spedizione nell’appartamento degli italiani. Alcuni clienti avrebbero più volte importunato i due ragazzi, accusandoli di aver occupato il letto di un loro connazionale e di rubargli il lavoro.
La discussione sembrava terminata, ma dopo la fine del turno, quando i due lecchesi stavano per andare a letto, nel loro appartamento hanno fatto irruzione gli otto inglesi e li hanno picchiato a sangue. Joele è morto poco dopo l’arrivo in ospedale, Alex, nonostante le numerose ferite, sarebbe fuori pericolo. La Polizia inglese ha arrestato gli otto presunti colpevoli.
“L’unica cosa certa è che mio figlio è stato ucciso, che si tratta di omicidio… sul movente io non posso ancora dire nulla”. ha affermato disperato il padre della vittima. Il sindaco di Nibionno, Claudio Usuelli, sottolinea che, da quanto ha appreso, i giovani che hanno aggredito Joele e il suo amico “hanno sfondato la porta della loro camera urlando “italiani di m…, ci rubate il lavoro”. Il sindaco di Nibionno polemizza con le autorità inglesi che hanno avvisato con ritardo quelle italiane.

A tribute page on Facebook was liked by more than 350 people and drew shocked reaction. One commenter posted: “My friend always told me: Never go to England.” Another one commented on the fact the victim was Italian, writing: “the novelty is that instead of the usual non-European immigrants, this time they attacked a European, as well as white. You can still speak of racism? xenophobia? Or is it just the expression of idiocy?”. The family of Leotta have been informed and are on their way to Kent from Italy. A Kent police spokesman said: “Police were called at 11:20pm on the evening of 20 October to Lower Stone Street in Maidstone, where a man had reportedly been assaulted.
